About The RPS

The RPS is here to help promote photography and support all photographers who want to develop their skills. We don't mind whether you use the latest DSLR, a smartphone camera, or film. The Society is the world's oldest photographic society in continuous existance since 1853 and is a registered charity and a membership organisation. We hold exhibitions of photography, competitions and we run workshops and courses covering many different aspects of photography. If you want recognition for your photography skills we offer a distinctions and qualifications programme. The Society also acts as a spokes-organisation for the media and is consulted by government and other organisations on matters such as copyright and photographers' rights.
