By Martin Lisius TBD

A tornado tears through Iowa cornfields near Shenandoah on June 28, 2017. Some tornadoes, like this one, are accompanied by frequent cloud to ground lightning (CG), while some are totally CG-free. Little is understood about lightning's role relating to tornadogenesis. although some believe that a sudden change in frequency may immediately precede a tornado.
